High end restoration along with a wonderful addition to this 1840 home located in the Historic District on William Street. Many of the fine details of this Greek Revival were maintained and duplicated to keep the historic character intact. The new addition reflects the current era and was designed to provide a new, historic flavor for the next hundred years. All wood work, trim, built in units, kitchen, bathroom cabinets were custom crafted. The house is filled with a great deal of light through the old glass windows which were retained and the newer additions. Located on the corner of William Street and Colonial Way, it is one block from Main Street and the Harbor. There are peaks of the Harbor from the second floor. The granite pillars at the entrance invite you to the formal landscaping which enhances the architecture of the house and the neighborhood. There is much recorded history about the owners of this property which is available in the current brochure.
FIRST FLOOR DESCRIPTION
Through the antique door to the formal foyer and front stairway which has been enhanced with additional windows, you are led to a formal living room with fireplace which is exceptionally large for a home of this vintage. The moulding, trim and panels in this room have been restored and the design has been used to enhance the formal dining room beyond which features a custom build china closet. To the right of the living room is a true sun porch filled with light which streams through large antique windows which uniquely move downward into the walls of the room. This room has been winterized, a number of new windows built and finished with beadboard. The sun porch leads out to the expansive 12' x 28' deck behind the house. Behind the dining room is the beginning of the new addition. Trim work was modeled after the exterior trim of the house and carried throughout the new addition to provide a distinction from the old and new. The kitchen is large with center butcher block island, desk area and a place for dining. There is also a door that leads out to the deck at the back of the house. Down three steps and you are on the lower level of the house to a guest room /office with private bath and walk in closet/pantry. The half bath is located in this wing as is the first floor laundry room.
SECOND FLOOR DESCRIPTION
